Did you know that your skin is an organ that helps protect your insides from being exposed to harmful components and regulates the temperature of your body?

Taking care of your skin will keep you looking your best and help your whole body stay healthy.

It is good to be informed about skin care rituals because like most things, it is easier to prevent an issue than fix one.

1. Sunscreen

 

Don’t forget to slather yourself in sunscreen (minimum SPF 15.)

Reapply every two hours. Even if it’s snowing outside or it appears to be cloudy, the sun’s rays can still burn you.

Sunburns increase your risk of cancer and repeated sun exposure can cause wrinkles and leathery looking skin.

2. Cleanse, Moisturize, Exfoliate

 

Wash your face once or twice per day.

Clean off the dirt, sweat, and oil from your face each night. Don’t wash too much or your skin could become too dry, as you you’re stripping it of natural oils.

Find a moisturizer that is right for your skin. You need to figure out whether you have oily or dry skin, or a combination of both, to determine which product is best.

That said, all skin types, including oily, need to be moisturized.

Once per week, exfoliate your skin to get rid of the dead cell pileup. With a scrub product, specific brush, or gloves, it is easy to exfoliate.

3. Water

 

Drink 8 tall glasses of water per day so your skin stays hydrated.

Water consumption helps rid the body of toxins.

Dry skin can cause flakiness and breakouts.

When you stay hydrated, you’re doing your skin a huge favor. It can give you a brighter and glowing complexion!

1. Stress Management

 

 

Stress can cause breakouts, itchiness, scaly skin, and rashes.

Find ways to manage your stress such as meditating, listening to relaxing music, finding alone time, and getting a good night’s sleep.

Of course, we cannot control every stressor, but having some coping skills can go a long way.

When stress is left unchecked, your skin suffers the consequences. Finding ways to to handle stress will help your skin stay clear.
